2019: A Year in Review

Updated: May 7, 2020

As a new year (and a new decade) dawns, we want to express our excitement for all that’s in store for 2020 as well as gratitude for all that 2019 brought. In July, we launched Sherwood Financial Partners and celebrated together over a freshly prepared meal at the Four Season’s California Health and Longevity Institute's teaching kitchen. For those following our blog, we highlighted the benefits of having an advisor, touched on the importance of estate planning and how to get started, and discussed Brexit in light of the history of the European Union. As the news cycles commented on the inverted yield curve and its potential predictive powers, so did we by explaining how the yield curve works and what it may or may not be telling us. We also talked about how saving for retirement is changing and hosted our first “Getting Started Workshop” in partnership with Lovely Abundance to help those entering their careers get started down the right path towards achieving their financial goals.

A month later, we gathered once again to express our appreciation to our clients over a great game of baseball at Dodgers Stadium (and one of our partners was thrilled with the outcome). As the year came to a close, we explained how the Federal Reserve was founded and its' objectives. We noted how financial planning is less of a science and more of an art, in addition to offering a few tax-saving ideas for the end of the year as well as an explanation of year-end distributions. We ended the year with a commentary on the importance of habit, and if you clicked on this article from our January email, then you probably saw our latest article on the SECURE Act and how it may impact you going forward.

In between all of our blogging, we had the pleasure of interacting with many of our wonderful clients and helping them further along in their financial journeys. We want to thank you for your support and encouragement as our first year comes to a close. As we set our sights on 2020, we will continue offering a service and client experience we can be proud of in addition to exploring new ways to better serve all of you who have placed your trust in us. On February 29th, we will be hosting an educational conference with insights on the markets and the latest in financial planning from both our team and several respected guest speakers and would love for you to join us. We have a lot more planned for this year (stay tuned!) and look forward to partnering with you to help you achieve your financial goals.
